Girl Scouts and students met last week at the John C. Hart Memorial Library Branch in Yorktown and proved to themselves just how valuable a library can be.
Girls of Troop 153 used the library's extensive facilities in reserach work for merit badges. Students like Greg Timourian, 13, use the library's many reference works in researching projects for school.
Part of the Friends of the Library's drive to promote both Yorktown and Shrub Oak libraries, the research gatherings are aimed at acquainting younger children and students with all the library has to offer.
The promotion program also includes performances by "Markert's Marionettes." scheduled for two showings at the Yorktown Heights Library Branch on May 4. Shrub Oak library will also have two performance on May 18. Shows on both Saturdays will be presented at 10:30 and 11:30 a.m.
Superivising the performances will be Mrs. Gerald Bloomberg, with Mrs. Mary Gross and Mrs. Bernard Wilson assisting.
