Children have a great place to sit down and enjoy a book at John C. Hait Memorial Library, as the newly renovated Children's Room is open and ready for youngsters to find a great book. The new room 's opening ceremony was held March 9.
Elaine Amato is a member of Friends of the Hart Library, and she said the renovation of the Children's Room took about two months, but did not result in any interruptions in service.
The new children's room features new paint and carpeting, larger windows, updated computer stations, relocated shelves and updated reference desk. Amato said the room is now "more spacious" and features artwork from Janice Davis Designs.
The renovation was made possible through grants by New York State, member donations and monetary support from the Friends of the Hart Library.
According to information from the library, the Children's Room is an active place with more than 450 programs, ranging from story times, club meetings, craft workshops, animal programs and volunteer opportunities for older children. "It's just a beautiful room," Amato said. "It's so child friendly. It's really very nice."
