Highlight of the art exhibit at John C. Hart Memorial Library, which opens with a formal tea for the artists Saturday of this week, is a large oil painting of the "The Cows", by C. Morgan McIlhenney, a former resident of Shrub Oak.
The painting was presented to the library by Mrs. Stanton Curry, and had originally been given to her and the late Dr. Curry many years ago.
Mr. McIlhenney, whose work has been on exhibition at the Museum of Art in New York, also did the etching of the Shrub Oak Brook which hangs in the music room of the library. It is a gift of his son Horace.
"The Cows", it is believed, was painted on the old Dennison farm on Stony Street opposite the McIlhenney home.
